Feedreader
Feedreader is a free program that gives readers of blogs a chance to follow their
favorite blogs without having to be online, or at least without having to pull up a browser in order to read them.
Created by i-Systems Inc., which was founded in 1998 and is based in Estonia, it's main purpose was to allow blog, or I suppose
any RSS feeds, that are updated to automatically load themselves into the program, so that
you can read your favorites whenever you want to. It can work in the background, or you can set it up so that you get this little
popup windows that alert you that one of your feeds has updated.
In my own Feedreader, I have upwards of 75 blogs that I track, including my own, mainly so that I know my feeds are working
properly whenever I add something to either my professional or personal blogs. I also track which blogs haven't had entries in
a long time, and can easily delete any feeds where the author's stop updating information.
You can also adjust the window settings so that you can see exactly what you want to see, and how you want to see it, as well as
a listing of categories from those blogs that happen to use them. You can also decide if you want to read the entries as it, click
on the link so they show as the website you might normally visit, or set it up so that, when you click on a link, it'll open your
browser so you can read it there. With Feedreader, you can even make comments there without having to go to your browser most of
the time.
And, the last thing I love about this program is that, in order to add a feed, all you have to do is either click on the link on a
site where the feed is, or click in the address bar to the right if you can't find the link, and if it has either a RSS or Atom
feed, the program will open and give you the option of subscribing to the feed or not.
I easily recommend Feedreader to anyone who loves reading blogs, or wants an easier way to know when content is being
updated through any source that has a RSS feed.
