Webshots

Is there anyone who still hasn't heard of Webshots? If not, it's a free program you can download that allows you to have pictures on your desktop that alternate at the frequency you choose, based on parameters within the program.

Most people believe that just downloading the program and installing it is the end of what Webshots has to offer, but it's not. The Webshots page also has hundreds of thousands of pictures that you can download to your computer and have the Webshots program run. It's also a picture community, where, if you sign up, you can upload pictures to share with others, and, once they're a part of Webshots, others can download those pictures and run them in their Webshots program.

And that's still not all. Webshots allows you to take pictures off your own computer and add them into the program so that they'll also rotate on your desktop. That was actually the best part of the program, in my opinion, because you can also use Webshots as your screen saver, and I love, when I reach that point, seeing family pictures and other pictures that have brought me joy scrolling across my screen in random order. The program also allows you to put a calendar on your desktop, along with the pictures, and you can go an many months before and after the present month as you wish.

With free usage, you're allowed to download 5 new pictures a day from the Webshots page; for $2.49 a month, you get unlimited downloads. Webshots offers you the opportunity to customize your own page on their site, and with the premium package, you can turn off the advertising. They also have a blog, and some shots can be purchased; I'm not sure if you can upload pictures for sale, as it's not something I've ever thought about doing.

Webshots is easy to recommend, if only to use to load your own pictures into for both your desktop and screen saver. It's been around a long time, it's trusted, and it works great.
